Hallmark eCards

Hi everyone,

The following website contains a whole lot of eCards:

www.hallmarkecards.com

I wonder if anyone could tell me whether Adobe Animate is the program to use to create eCards similar to those on the abovementioned website? Also, are the hallmark eCards .swf files or html5 Canvas files.

Just finally, as I understand it, .swf files will eventually be replaced entirely by html5 animation so I wondered if anyone could tell me if there are other html5 animation programs besides Adobe Animate. I just wasn't sure which was the best program to use.

The cards seem to be video. I don't know how their system creates the videos.

As for HTML5 animations, there are other tools, but Animate is still a good choice, at least for HTML5 Canvas.

Thanks for the reply, I noticed that in many of the cards they have a type of animation where it looks like someone is writing the text. For example the first card on the following page has this effect:

Is it possible create this type of "drawn text" effect in Adobe Animate?

That one is done well, and the general feel of the movement is a bit like you would get from After Effects.

Any tutorials for Flash Pro would still apply to Animate, and you can see some examples of doing handwriting in this Google search:

Ok thanks but if the effect is created using actionscript and then saved as an html5 document would the effect still remain after saving?

I think that most of the effects are done with timeline animation, which would work in HTML5 Canvas. No need for ActionScript. There may be some that do use code, and those techniques should work with CreateJS and JavaScript, just with different syntax.

Something else to think about, if you were to create videos, like Hallmark do, you don't need it to work as real time Canvas, you could create it in an ActionScript FLA and export to Video.
