Need to shift an animated object that has a mask. When I go to do this it adds an additional dotted green line (a motion path). How can I prevent that from happening? I just want to re-position this object/clip.
Thank you.

it's not clear what timeline's are involved. eg, are you talking about a movieclip on a parent timeline that you want to motion tween? if so, is the mask on the movieclip's timeline and do you want that to follow the same motion tween?

The layer object with the mask was tweened along a path in the main timeline. I found when I double-clicked on that track in the timeline, it brings me to the base graphical layer where I was able to manually move a) the object b) the mask.
Is that the best recommended method? You cannot make such a move in the main, master timeline, correct (otherwise it adds more animatics...it adds additional path to the existing motion path)?

you have a movieclip on the main timeline in one layer, correct?
you have a mask for that movieclip in a layer above the movieclip's layer, correct?
you have motion tweened that movieclip on the main timeline between frames x and y (eg, 10 and 20) and now you want to add another motion tween (further down the main timeline) between frames y+z and w (eg, 30 and 40)?

No, I didn't want to add another motion tween at all. I just wanted to re-position the placement of this mini animation on the stage without it applying an additional motion tween.

create another layer and keyframe (in that layer and copy/paste your object where you want.
add an empty keyframe to your motion tween layer where you want that object to be removed.
