I want to make an animating youtube video. what would be the exact process here? should i make the entire video in animate and just cut a bit and fix in premiere or should i make little clips(for each clip a new project), and import all clips into premiere? doesent convince me. should i in animate just instead of cuts just start the new clip with a keyframe? any thoughts on the whole process? thanks for helping out;)

It depends on the complexity and length of your project.

If it's only you who is working on it, and fairly short - say up to 2-3 minutes - you can make the whole in Animate and do the cuts there.

If it's longer or very complex, you would do one FLA per shot and use an editing program for the final edit.

Also when many people are working on a project, splitting it into shots is more practical.

Both are valid options.

Just don't use Scenes in Animate.

thanks! so basically for say 30 seconds flushed out animation i would save the project and put it in a folder. then start a new one and import the figures so on and start animating? or do you just use the same project and make a save every time?

btw do you also know how to mark a filled out object+the outline(when making bodyparts for example)). double clicking doesnt work and only marks the filling and not the outline:(

Yeah, you can copy characters, backgrounds and assets from one FLA to another.

Also, get into the habit of saving versions of your file as you progress - like FileName_01.fla, FileneName_02.fla and so on, to have backups and prevent issues with work loss due to data corruption.

What do you mean by 'marking' an object? Do you want to select a raw shape and its outline?

You can click the stroke and then hold down Shift and click the fill; or you can do a box selection (click outside and drag), or click on the keyframe in the timeline, or select with the lasso tool, and then either convert to a symbol or a Union/Drawing Object.

If you are new to Animate, you'd better get to know some basics:

yes i meant select. but when drawing a character and having drawn each body part, i saw a youtuber using an earlier version of flash just double clicking on the individual body parts and it would select just the outline of the body part that was selected and not the entire outline(which happens when i click on the outline). any ideas on how to accomplish that?

Most likely those were Symbols or Drawing Objects.

That is why I suggested you need to learn the basics and the terminology, so that you can effectively follow demonstrations and understand what is being shown.

Good luck!
