Whenever I import audio, I do see the waveform of the audio but the program thinks that there's absolutely nothing playing which is a massive problem. I've already tried using different audio formats and changing the sound settings on the timeline so that it's sync is stream-based but nothing changes whatsoever. The strangest thing to come from this issue is that going to the properties to test the audio makes it play as if nothings wrong which confuses me as the program does acknowledge the audio's existence but refuses to play it outside of tests. I've exhausted all of the options from searching up the problem as they only contain the solutions I've already tried and I'm not sure what's the next step to take as I don't want to animate without having audio to help guide me to make the movements sync the best I can.

does it play from the library?

Attempting to play the audio from the library 'plays' absolutely nothing for a split second before stopping.

what stops?

The program itself doesn't crash when trying to 'play' the audio as it immediately stops after starting it.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I don't have the sounds muted via the option in the control tab.

in the library, right click the sound > click properties > take a screenshot of the popup and copy/paste it into a reply here ala

I've already contacted support a few hours ago and found that I was able to hear the audio by testing the movie, and that certain stock sound effects do work although importing them as custom audio yields the same results as the audio I was originally using. The least I can do to provide more clarification is a video showcasing my issue using a completely different audio file.

that's windows. and that's a surprise.
can you upload a problematic sound file to a file server and post a link.

I've already sent two people the same problematic sound file and project and it worked perfectly fine for them, so most likely somethings going on with either Adobe Animate or something on my laptop.

There have been multiple reports of this or a similar issue on the forum, where users with OBS Studio installed could not make timeline audio play.
The only solution that seemed to work was a Windows reset.

Isn't there a way to change the system settings that OBS changes without having to reset my entire laptop just to make Adobe Animate play audio in the library and timeline?

I have not seen any such information.
I don't use OBS and have never faced the issue myself. In theory it should be possible to undo the OBS changes, but you need to find out where they are and document that for others' benefit.
Here is an older thread you can read:

Ironically, I've already seen this thread from someone who was also trying to help me with this issue, but both them and my grandma refuse to let me reset my laptop, so I guess there isn't much choice with this, thanks anyway!

Hi, here are a couple of threads from the OBS forums that may or may not help you:
https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/desktop-no-sound-when-obs-is-opened-other-issues.75366/
https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/i-cant-hear-anything-when-obs-is-open.127751/
Could you test these yourself and let us know if any of them work? We can't test them on our end.
