One thing I've noticed while trying to export my animations is that the layer effects that I applied to certain layers, like multiply or overlay, are in full effect inside of the program. But when I exported the animation, it somehow defaulted back to normal effect.
I don't know if my publish settings are wrong or I'm missing something, any help would be good!

Hi, make sure this option is unchecked in the publish settings:

I double checked my settings, and it wasn't checked when I exported the animation before hand.

That's a new one, could you upload your .fla to a file sharing service like Google Drive or WeTransfer so we can take a closer look?

Could be that the filters don't render, because the symbols are too large. There is a pixel limit to that in Flash Player.

Hello! I'm sorry I didn't respond soon enough. Here is the link to the file, let me know if you can access it.

If you are exporting in SWF, the effect is visible, but then you cannot import it into After Effects. In order for the effects to be seen, you must export as a png or jpg image sequence, whichever is better. Sometimes in video format it can give an error.

I was exporting it as an .mp4 at the default settings.
So, in order for my multiply effect to be seen I have to put it as an PNG image sequence?

That is a workaround yes, but let's see first if we can solve the video problem. The video exporter records the SWF output so what you see rendered (or not) on the SWF should be exactly what you see on video. You can open a SWF preview and test this yourself by pressing Ctrl + Enter.
After looking at your file the multiply effect does render on my end, both on the SWF and on video. Are you using the latest version? If not, what is the version you have installed?

At the current, my Adobe animate is at version 23.4 and my creative cloud says that it's fully up to date. I'm trying to think on what could be causing this, but I'll try to do the video exporting again and see the SWF preview

Alright, please note that the most recent version as of today is Animate 23.0.2, there is no 23.4 version yet.
Kindly double check your version by going to Help > About Animate...

You had me checking to see if there was an update I missed. But its still on 23.0.2 like Mario Cr points out.

I sorry for the confusion, I read my Photoshop version instead of my Adobe Animate. It is version 23.0.2
I did the exporting on two different computers to see if there was a problem not with the file, but with what I was using. The windows computer did the exporting with the shading on both versions, .SWF and .MP4. I tried it again on the mac and it seems to be working this time compared to the last few exporting attempts. Both .SWF and .MP4
