no "reset transform" in animate ?

Explorer ,
Dec 11, 2024 Dec 11, 2024

hi,

looking for something to "reset transform". so for example if i scaled a button, the inner elements are mixed scaled. a text for example has the new scale factor, a shape stays at local 100 percent scale.

but if i make a new layer in the button and import something , it becomes the scalefactor of the button, so i have to manually rescale to get it to its initial 100 percent again.

...chat gpt says animate has a "reset transform" possibility     ;-))

...so if someone could help me and give me a hint how to do that fast.

what i found is break apart, but then i have to build the button new again ...

thanks for help!

tomes

you can use undo to go back one step at a time.

when you do something that causes unwanted changes, undo (edit>undo or ctrl-z, if using the default shortcuts) that step.  this can be used repeatitively

i have much scaled buttons, i want to apply their scale to "100 percent", i dont want to "reset scale" back to 100 percent, then the buttons get smaller or bigger again. as i said if i make a new layer inside the button and import something , that does not come in with 100 percent. only if the button has a scale of 100 percent the imported material comes in at 100 percent... as i see it.

so i have nothing to redo...much too late to redo...scaling of buttons was done hours ago. so as i see, i have to "break apart" the button and build it new again.then the scale of the button is 100 percent again, at same size...

Hi.

Select the target instance, go to the Transform panel (Ctrl + T / Cmd + T) and press the Remove Transform button (circular arrow) at the bottom right corner.

i want the button to behold its size !  and want a button to reset its scale to "100" only the number, not its size!! ....in many programs there are "apply transform".

i dont want t to "reset scale" to 100. then the button changes its size.

Use Zero Transform mode of Set Reg Point To Transform Point.

Got it.

Thanks.

There's no built-in feature/command/tool in Animate for it.

I wish it had.

You can try to write a JSFL script for it though.

I tried installing the Flanimate Tools (Set Reg Point To Transform), it installed, but non of this stuff works.  Animate 24.0.1.

Its so lame that Adobe has this feature and wont carry it over to Animate.. I already started a major project and cant just go back now..

I use curves for the outlines of my characters, and I have to symbolize them when I scale them, because if you do not, and use a 5.0 line weight, if you scale up, you will still have the same 5.0 line weight on the upscaled character, so that the lines will now be way thinner.

To avoid this, I symbolize, it retains the line weight, but then you cant go and apply the transform back to 100% to break the symbol if you want to work on that piece.

So basically you go through every part of the character and convert to fill, if you want to upscale, and so Animate just doesn't have an industy feature to scale curves and keep their line weight proportional to the scale...  and they want 40$ a month for this... whatever..

Hi, thank you for answering back.  Well, it installed, the list of functions shows up in the commands drop down.  When I have the symbol selected, Ive tried a few different ways to get it to work, but nothing happens.  Ive clicked on the right command in the commands drop down, and Ive also tried the hot keys, and its just no response, as in, nothing happens.

For Zero Transform you need to hold down the Shift key as it is a secondary action.

Please, read the documentation and watch the demonstrations.

You can also use Find And Replace Strokes to batch adjust line thickness.

If you like, you can record a video of your actions and email us. We're happy to assist and get you going.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the video!

To get Ctrl+T and Shift+T shortcuts to work, you need to load the EDAPT Shortcuts set first. You must have missed this step in the installation instructions.

If you don't want to use them, just hold down Shift when you choose the command from the menu or open the EDAPT Commands panel and use that instead, again holding down Shift. Then Zero Transform should work.

Some general advice:

Don't use Groups. Use Drawing Objects instead, or just layer things inside symbols.

Groups are bad practice for many reasons and you may not be able to modify them externally with batch commands, such as Find And Replace Strokes.

Hope this helps!

ps . If you have further EDAPT questions, I don't mind answering here, but it may be better to do it in the comments of the EDAP Tools' site.

Right? So if you started with a line weight of 2.0, scaled up by 150%, it would have the appearance of a 3.0 line.  But when it recets it goes back to 2.0.  Such a simple formula if implemented would leave that line weight as a 3.0.

You just mulitiply the orinial line weight by 1.5 (scale factor) and it would go back to the way it was when it was scaled and not recet.

BTW sorry for posting this here and through DM, I dont know what the problem is, 2x i tried messaging and got a blank page, so I had no way of knowing if they got through.
