Opacity isn't working

New Here ,

Hey before I start just gotta say I'm a HUGE beginner with Adobe animate and have basically just only recently started using it so pls bare with me

I'm trying to make my first animatic and am currently just doing simple sketches with the fluid brush tool and I like to do sketches with low opacity

However whenever I draw it just all ends up sharing the same exact grey color rather than actually building up into the solid black color

Does anyone know how to fix this?

If you need any more info feel free to ask

Aside from your question: Animate is on the verge of (sadly) discontinuation by Adobe, so you might want to reconsider pouring too much of your time into an animation app that has no future ahead of it as a beginner animator.
