http://www.brendandawes.com/projects/dragslidefade   this is a great intro book for what your looking for. The tutorials may be online and I believe the book comes with a CD mine is somewhere in my garage. 

www.republicofcode.com ,   flashkit.com, sephiroth.it  are all great places for resources.

you really shouldn't be spending time learning as2.  it's a dead-language that has no future.

it's no longer supported in any current adobe products and eventually will not be supported by any browser plugin.
