Is there a way to attach pupils to the eye while still giving them free ability to move?

Hi.

You would have to preset the positions in a Graphic symbol and then update the First frame property of its instances.

Other than that, you would need to use code.

I successfully made the eyes move as a movie clip but the next problem is that I can't get them to stop moving. Suggestions?

I have always preferred to build with graphic symbols. You can put symbols within symbols.
