I'm now at a loss of what to do to convert lines to fills. A developer told me they don't want to touch Animate's codebase because it is so old and cryptic, and attempting to fix something will often lead to breaking something else. Instead, they pile on flashy updates to seem like they are improving it somehow.
Look what happens when I try to convert this line to a fill. What do I do? Are we stuck in the year 1996? Can I get my money back?

It's embarressing to see this still a problem after 25 years.

Yeah, it's always been like that.
If you want to get this done, go in outlines mode and with the eraser remove a 'pixel' at the corners where the individual lines connect. Then all will be fine.
BTW, it has always worked 'consistently'. Just not the way it is supposed to 🙂

Thank you that worked! Though I don't want to do this when the outline becomes more complex. It should just work.
Adobe - PLEASE. It has been far too much time. I'm forced into using Adobe products for work, but it does not seem like it is worthwhile for you all to fix productivity-breaking bugs that are DECADES old. It can't be rocket science, can it?

Hi.
Yeah, I reported this issue to the team back in October 2020, but I didn't get any answer up until this day.
I hope they fix it someday.
I ended up finding that it is much more reliable to use Illustrator for this specific job instead. That's what worked for me when I needed to convert hundreds of icons lines to fills.
Regards,
