Using both classic and motion tweens in a Camera layer?

Hi there,

I think I might be reporting a bug here. I know the software doesn't allow you to use both Classic and Motion Tweens on a normal layer in the one Timeline. However, it DOES allow you to do this for a Camera layer, and it all plays the way it's supposed to in the program. BUT! I discovered it all falls apart when you Export Video. My first Camera Classic Tweens played fine, as did the following Camera Motion Tweens... but every Camera Classic Tween subsequent to that first Motion Tween was offset almost off the stage to the top left. The Motion Tweens, however, all performed correctly. I exported the video twice and got the same result.

So... does anyone else experience this issue? Are you not supposed to mix these two Tween types in a Camera layer, as with normal layers? If so, why does it allow you to do it at all?

I'm gonna have to redo all my Camera Classic Tweens to Motion Tweens unless there is a particular reason this happened.

Hello mate,

I don't use the camera so I can't confirm the specifics, but if you have finished work and all you want to do is get your stuff out to video, just export PNG sequence and render video out of that in Premiere or similar, so that you don't have to worry about the SWF to MOV to MP4.

Thank you so much, n. tilcheff! - I can confirm that the problem does not occur when you Export Movie... and export as a PNG sequence (so it's probably just an "Export Video..." issue). The PNGs do take longer to render but the quality is great and hey - the file size is about 15% as large so I'm gonna export like this from now on.

That's great to hear, mate!

Yeah, I've been working professionally in animation for many years and we've always found that exporting PNG sequence renders the best possible results.

In CS versions on Win you can also render / export uncompressed WAV in seconds and then combine the audio and video in Premiere.

It seems to not be possible in CC any more, but you can always keep a CS6 next to your latest CC install and get the audio out of it if you're using Windows.

I've just noticed there's one new problem with the PNG render - none of the Movie Clips are playing - they just stay stuck on their first frame, as they appear in the project's timeline. I didn't notice at first because I haven't used many in the project - there were just a few instances of Movie Clips with more than one frame.

Is this a side effect of doing a PNG sequence render - that you can't have animated Movie Clips? Is there a workaround for this?

Yes, movieclips are only intended for interactive projects and do not export with the Timeline.

Just click on the instances and choose Graphic in Properties with looping set to Loop.

Sorry. I'm so used to all the specifics and limitations... Didn't even think that you may run into this.
