video not in correct format

New Here ,
Mar 05, 2019 Mar 05, 2019

Exporting videos from animate cc is no longer working on my laptop. Not sure if I pressed something by accident. The first time the error occurred media encoder opened. Whether I have the encoder selected or not does not change anything, the video will still not work, at least directly from my laptop. If I load it to another computer or put it on google drive, the video plays just fine.

I keep receiving this error message

This item was encoded in a format that's not supported

Mate, that message tells you that your system does not recognise the codec used. That's all.

Usually you can install a codec (or 'codec pack') and then the video would play 'natively'.

Alternatively you can use VLC (or similar player) which has codecs built-in and does not rely on what is installed or comes with your OS.

When you upload to YouTube it reads it and transcodes it to h.264 and whatever other streams YT supports these days.

Mate, that message tells you that your system does not recognise the codec used. That's all.

MOV, MP4, AVI, etc. are just containers. What matters is the codecs chosen for Audio and Video.

So when Media Encoder opens, check the video and audio export settings. Try to go for h.264 for video which is pretty standard these days and AAC or MP3 for audio.

If it still does not work, print screen and post here for additional assistance.

Good luck!
