When I click on a text box Adobe Animate locks up for 30 seconds to a minute.

I'm running the latest version of Animate on a Mac (Monterey 12.6)

Every time I click on or try to edit a text box, the program hangs / locks up for up to a minute or two. It's maddening.

Any suggestions on how to resolve?

save your fla with a new name in a new directory.

restart your computer

open the fla in the new directory

does it still hang?

Yes it does. This is an ongoing issue with all FLA files for a while now.

define a custom keyboard shortcut 

reset your preferences*
confirm the preference reset by checking the shortcut was reset

if it was, check the problem 

if it was not, retry the preference reset
