When installing Adobe Animate 2024, it also installed Media Encoder but removed old versions

Hi there,

I recently installed Adobe Animate 2024 wanting to try it out. Like usual, it also installed Media Encoder 2024 alonside it. I already had Premiere and Media Encoder versions 2021-2023 installed, which I wanted to keep intact but when Media Encoder 2024 installed it removed the older versions without asking.

I had auto update turned off, and there was no option to migrate preferences or remove old versions.

Is there a way to avoid this happening in the future and is there a way to get Media Encoder 2021 reinstalled as I'm currently working on a Premiere 2021 project.

Sorry, to add: this occured in Windows 10, but my co-worker had the same thing occur on Mac OS (I think Ventura) with Media Encoder 2022 being removed but not completely. The application package was left, but only a few small files were left inside.

1. you can install the latest and 1 version prior versions using the cc desktop app. you must have a subscription because previous versions are not available with trials. other versions are revealed after clicking file preferences>apps>tick show older apps (at panel bottom).

2. for versions cc 2019 and older, use prodesigntools.com*.

3. for versions newer than cc 2019 but older than one previous version, contact adobe support for links**.

opposition to this decision (to limit available previous versions) has been conveyed to adobe officials who are therefore aware of the problems caused by this policy. however, unless/until changes are made, nothing can be done to legally access these files.

Thanks for your replies, and apologies for the incorrect post location. I'll report the bug and have a look at that website. It's unfortunate that the previous downloadable versions is limited, hopefully there will be some change to that in the future, as in the past I've been able to use the help chat and get sent a download link relatively quickly.

well, some previous versions are available via prodesigntools, too.

I already tried these options and sadly it doesn't help my case. If number 3 was still an option that'd be perfect.

No, unfortunately. I was working in CC 2021 so I will just export directly out of Premiere for now or I'll try converting my project to CC 2023
