Why does video export with animated symbols on the timeline but Animated Gif doesn't?
Currently I have to take the movie.mov export, put it in Photoshop, re-save as gif.
We don't mind that the symbols don't perfectly fit into the gif frames, much as with video export doesn't mind.
So, why is it like this?
Can it be the same as movie export?
If not, why?
Hi,
The Gif animator is implemented on the stage preview and not on published output.
Hence, like stage, animations inside movieclip cannot be captured in GIF animator as of now.
For workaround, you'll first have to change all the movieclips to graphic symbols and provide sufficient frame span on parent layer such that the graphic symbol's animation plays completely.

Hi could you guys consider a feature request to output Gif Animations the same way as Video?
I can't think of single use case where the current Gif export result is useful.
Going in and making each movie clip X amount of frames so it fills the main timeline is destructive to the original source material. (not to mention the opposite of a movie clip symbols purpose)

Yes, this is already on our backlog list.
You may want to report a feature request for this to add your vote.
