Extracting audio from CD in Audition crashes the program

Community Beginner ,
Apr 14, 2025 Apr 14, 2025

Using version 25.2.0.123 of Adobe Audition, when trying to Extract Audio From CD I now get this crash error:

Adobe Audition.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Then it closes.

So I can't extract from a CD anymore.

I've been using this feature for many years with no problem but something seems to have gone amiss in the latest version.

Kind regards

Phil

Does this happen with any CD? It's been a long time since I did this, and I don't have a CD reader anymore.

As a workaround, you could try another app, like the free VLC media player.

I'm having the exact same problem. Was thinking the external CD drive was at fault but obviously not.

Same here with both 25.2.0.123 and Beta 25.3

Select the tracks, click okay.. crash. Please fix. It still is a needed tool.

Hi,

We apologize for the problem and have resolved it in the most recent beta build of Audition (build 25.3.0_60) . It will included in next relase of Audition.

Regards

Abhishek

Use the beta for this operation for now. You can have both the release and beta versions on your machine.

This happens to me too with any CD. Audition crashes instantly and is super annoying.

When will the fix be released to those of us that do not want to be running beta software?

FYI:

The beta can co-exist with the release version, and the beta can open the release files. You can continue to use the release version, and just make use of the beta for its CD functions, thereby minimizing the risk.

Abhishek: How soon before the next release? In the meantime I'm using a 2024 version of Audition to rip my CDs.

This issue has started to affect me too. I've never had this problem before, now when I try to extract audio from a CD it loads the tracklist without a problem, then the whole program immediately crashes as soon as you press start. Very annoying - how can something so basic be broken in a pushed software release with no fix until the next release? For software that costs a considerable amount of money to use, this is really poor.

Have you tried the beta? Or downgraded back one version?

>From what I can tell having emailed Adobe about this issue, they're in no
hurry to fix this bug. I'm glad I still have a copy of Audition 2024!

I think it's obvious that for the powers that be at Adobe, Audition is a dead product. It's not "officially" dead, so they have to pretend it's part of the suite, for now. I mean, seriously, if there was a feature in Photoshop that crashed the whole program, do you think they'd sit on that? Can you imagine that everytime you went to open Camera Raw in Photoshop it crashed and closed Photoshop - do you think they'd say, wait for the next major release? What a joke. No, Audition is dead. Either they're working on a new DAW or they've given it up to Studio One or one of the others. Remember Encore? Oh yeah, Adobe knows best, right.

Hi

I would have to say you appear to be on the mark with your thoughts on Audition, unfortunately, Yes we do remember Encore!!
