We have Adobe Audition 3.0 which is no longer supported by Adobe. I have .pk files being created every time I create a wav file. Does anyone know how I can turn that off so the .pk's won't be created?

Under Preferences/Display you can untick the 'Save Peak Cache Files' box. However .pk are only very small files and don't take up much storage. They are there to save time when you re-open audio files that have already been used in AA3 so that Audition doesn't have to recalculate the displayed waveforms every time an audio file is opened. It can slow down Audition's workflow considerably if you either have very large audio files or very many of them in use in Audition with the Save Peak Cache Files option turned off.
Due to the double post I have removed your duplicate post and left the answer in this thread.
