All plugins in project have reset to default settings!

I think I know why too.

I have a project with stacks of fabfilter and izotope plugins on several tracks. I opened the project on a work machine to show a work mate some edits. This machine has no third party plugins installed. I think I must have saved the project out of habbit from there.

Now I've opened the project back on my machine and all the plugin setting have returned to their default settings! The project is misbehaving in general now too, with strange distortion on any track with spectral denoise - regardless of the settings.

This is hours of work I have lost. Does anyone know if there is a way to recover the original plugin settings and restore the project?

I just tried to get Adobe support. It is mind blowing how terrible their service is! Unbelievable! They don't even read your messages before they throw a template answer at you.

I assume this is a project using the multitrack workspace?

If so, have you checked whether, within the project folder, there is also a folder called "Backup"?  If so, it should contain a number of earlier "versions" of your project.  Maybe one of them will enable you to return to at least something close to what you previously had?

That was my first thought too. Looks like the only backups are from after the problem occured. I must not have my backup settings, on my machine configured properly. Ultimately, I don't think I can do anything about it. I'll just have to start the job again. Who needs a Sunday with their family anyway... I just shouldn't have pressed save when I opened it on the other machine. Damn cmd+s reflex....

I just wish Adobe would do someting about their support. They know full well they are failing their customers, but just simply don't seem to care. Every time I contact them I either get an 'I don't know, go to the forum' or a never ending cascade of proforma responses that demonstrate a total misunderstanding of my enquirery. Nothing is going to change until they decentralize their support team into a regionally based, professionally staffed model. Image if your support enquiery was answered by a working proffessional! They could recruit all around the world, with a team that log on and off duty around their own shedual & are renumerated on a call by call or chat by chat basis. The Uber of support.
