I need help asap please! anyone encountered this issue and fixed it? I have a file I recorded, in fact multiple files where I open them and the wav file is all there you can see the recording but large chunks and in some cases the entire file plays nothing. It's not my audio output it is the file itself. This is days of recrded work just gone.

It may sound a bit strange, but you have to bear in mind that the waveform you see has nothing directly to do with the presence of actual audio. What is displayed visually is the result of information in the .pkf file associated with the file you recorded. What this means is that it's possible to display the visual content of something that either doesn't exist, or is stored elsewhere. Normally a .pkf file is stored adjacent to its audio file and you don't see it, because normally it's hidden from view (that is an OS option). The purpose of .pkf files, incidentally, is to speed up the opening of long files, and it's not essential that they are there, because Audition can recreate them on a subsequent re-opening if they are missing.

How are you opening these files? Directly from a folder, or via Audition's 'Open' menu? If you open directly from a folder (ie not directly from Audition) then you'll see the .pkf files listed, but using the 'Open' menu will show you only files that are actual audio, not .pkf files. The other thing is - what exactly happens if you hit Play?
