Audition 2020 isn't working I can't play my audio and it won't record

Please help I need to finish a project and after updating to 2020 the play/space bar wont work. I went to preference and made sure audio devices was correct still nothing. There is no response it simply says play or stop but the playhead does not move. Record also does not function. I also tried adding an interface and it does not respond even though it recognizes it? What's going on with Audition 2020?

Well whatever you think, you're still not connected correctly to a sound device that works. Has to be this, because it's the only thing that stops Audition's transport working. But we can't tell you any more than that, because you haven't even told us whether this is a Mac or a PC you are using. It might help if you can show us screen-grabs of your hardware settings page.

okay, here's what's weird. everything on my computer was working fine and then later today it just doesn't play. Hit the space bar and nothing happens.

I looked at the sound device and it seems to be playing fine with no errors but not in Audition (2020). I don't understand that it worked earlier and all of a sudden it doesn't work, particularly where the soundcard isn't presenting any further errors. Running Windows 10. Do I need to reinstall the program? I don't get this at all.

Any thoughts?

I've already told you what's causing this, and what to do to help resolve it. Reinstalling won't make any difference.
