Audition 2025 not opening pkf files

One of my clients sent me some of his audio files in pkf format to work on a project for him. I have Audition 2025 however when I try to open the file, it cannot find the file. When I look at the file types that Audition can open, that is not one of the formats.

From everything I read online and in the Discussion forums, I cannot find anything that I can do to open these files. I read that you're not able to convert the pkf files to any other format - is this true? Can someone suggest anything?

I'm afraid that .pkf files don't contain any audio at all. Their only purpose was to store the visual information about what a file looked like when the waveform was displayed. Their purpose was to help open the actual audio file more quickly - simply by removing the need for the file to regenerate that information. Generally they are stored with their associated wav files and can only be used in conjunction with them.
