Audition Adding Fades When I Import

When I have a multi-track session open and I drag a single file or multiple files into the session, audition is adding fades to every clip. If it needs to, it'll even extend the clip length simply to make room for it to add a fade.

This problem started when I installed Audition on my laptop for the first time (previously on a desktop) . I thought it was a glitch but after uninstalling and reinstalling the problem persists.

However, when I use "Import" from the menu and then drag each clip into the multitrack session I no longer have the problem. I'm starting to think it could be a problem with how the touchpad on the laptop communicates with Auditoon? For instance, on my desktop I always had to click and drag from the top clip I wanted otherwise it would import them in a weird order.

Any help would be appreciated! It's certainly slowing down my work flow.

    That's an odd one. Whereabouts on the clip is Audition adding fades? Is the audio fading up or down or both?

    When you add the clips to your Multitrack session do you see the fades on the Volume envelopes at the start and end of the clips? Or is it only when you play the clips back that you can hear the audio levels changing?

    Above is an example of what it looks like. The bottom clip is the original while the top one is the affected clip. When I drag clips into a multitrack session from windows explorer the end of the clips is extended and a fadeout is added on the end.

    My current workaround is to drag clip (or import) into Audition's clip bin before dragging them into my session. In that case the problem doesn't occur. Not a huge deal I suppose, but it does slow me down as I've done it this way for years without issue. It only seems to be happening on this laptop, unlike my PC. I do believe the version of Audition is newer on my laptop than my PC if that helps?

    Rather than having to open them first into the Files panel within Audition you can use the built in Media Browser, rather than Windows Explorer to locate and drag in your audio files. Although I don't understand why your installation adds time and fades to the clips. I can perfectly happily drag files in from Windows Explorer on my system without that happening. They are standard .wav files that you are importing?
