Audition Audio Hardware Preferences unavailable

This will probably just muddy the waters, and it's gonna be short...but I feel impelled to say something. I have cs6 creative suite. I also use resolve. I have a laptop with internet connection. I have editing computer system with NO LAN... no internet.

I have microft OS on both.

The laptop gets forced to update stuff on occassion. The edit computer is in it's own world.

When I use audition on laptop I only have MME as a choice now. No longer ASIO is an option. I have no clue why. If I put sound file into audition on laptop it often does nothing and I have to go into preferences and choose EXACTLY THE SAME settings I have (MME, realtec, speakers, etc.) and miraculously it now WORKS. I have no idea what's going on.

The only difference is the laptop is online, and the edit computer is offline.

So I suspect the problem is with the OS upgrades and some confusion regarding the focus of audition to SEE the specs it is supposed to see. The edit computer doesn't have this problem.

Like I said, this only muddy's the waters.... sorry...

There are built in drivers for realtec and other hardware that Microsoft updates on occassion and I suspect that is the problem... being a happy partner in computer marriage that allows pro editing programs to work, vs. the " let's play games and listen to fun music " mentality of selling stuff.

Hi,

It has always been a war between Creatives that only wanted to use Computers to be more productive and Computer-Developers of any kind who wants to make them Programs and Drivers and stuff better and better, but causing sometimes new Problems ... and then the only Users Creatives has to face those ... again.

But hopefully those Problems will go away with the one or the othe

Kevin, thanks for moving this post to audition, but I feel it makes even less sense than it did in the original prepro forum. Could you please just delete it ?  After all, I am not asking for help from nice users....just tried to relate some info concerning mme , asio, realtec, settings, etc...to the prepro user who is experiencing weird problems with mme, asio, realtec, settings, etc.

anyway, please delete this message cause it's basically useless. thanks and have great holidays.
