Audition - Auto crossfade is not working

In my preferences for multitrack clips - auto crossfade is checked. I've tried toggling it on and off, and restarting my computer, but for whatever reason now as I drag clips they simply lay ontop of other clips. No more automatically cross fading. Any thoughts?

In the clip menu in Multitrack (as opposed to the preferences menu item) do you have a check next to 'Automatic Crossfades Enabled'?

Does Autofade only work, when clips are on the same track?
I prefer having them on separate tracks, as this makes it easier to edit. But then indeed, Automatic Crossfade doesn't work between the - to me still - overlapping tracks.

Also, is there no "library" of predefined fades that you bring into one or multiple tracks - like in Camtasia?

Yes, autofading of clips only works if they are on a single timeline. There is no library of predefined fades, but all fades are individually adjustable. I haven't yet come across a situation that this didn't deal with.
