Audition CC 2019 Opens, Freezes and Disappears

I recently got a new computer (HP) and installed creative cloud. All the apps work fine except Audition. The first time I opened it, it froze and shut down. Now, it pauses while loading with this message: "A previous session of Audition quit unexpectedly. You may open the recovered session now, delete it, or choose at a later time."

What ever option I choose, the app loads, crashes and shuts down again. I've tried reinstalling, deleting files from AppData, running as admin, I've even reset the computer but to no avail.

Adobe - fix this for me!!

AUDITION FIXED!

The wonderful people at Adobe have fixed my issue. Here's how, but you have to be super quick before Audition closes!

As soon as it opens, quickly go to Edit -> Preferences -> General -> uncheck the "enable extensions" checkbox. Once you get preferences open Audition will stay on and let you uncheck enable extensions. Alternatively, as soon as it opens, press Ctrl + Shift + K if you can't get preferences open before it shuts.

Press Ok. Audition may close but should work on your next attempt to open! I hope this helps anybody with a similar issue as it's been wrecking my brain for 2 days now!

That's weird but glad you got Audition fixed. I wonder what extension was causing it to crash?

Honestly no idea. It was a fresh install on a fresh computer so it wasn't anything I'd added. Very strange!

As requested.....

  1. What were you doing when it crashed? - Trying to open it as stated
  2. What have you done since you last launched the application? - "I've tried reinstalling, deleting files from AppData, running as admin, I've even reset the computer but to no avail" - AS ORIGINALLY STATED
  3. If it crashes with a plug-in or a file, supply information about the plug-in or file. - it crashes on start up?
  4. Has anyone else experienced the crash?  Anyone else on the forums, or perhaps a friend that also owns Audition? All the advice I've read has been unhelpful or hasn't worked.
  5. Was there an error message?  Post a screenshot. No error message - just freezes and closes
  6. Submit a bug report with as much of the above information or a link to your forum thread here: Feature Request/Bug Report Form    submitted.
  7. When asked, send additional information directly to the Adobe Audio team by emailing links to media, projects, crash dumps, or other supporting files here: audbugs@adobe.com       sent
  8. Finally, let us know if Audition's Crash Recovery system or automatic session backups worked for you. - didn't work

Is that better?

For the person who has to look at the log, yes - but not for us here. Hopefully you will get some feedback from the devs, who will look at this. The one thing it doesn't appear to say anywhere in the FAQ is that it's also a good idea to give them an email address where you can be contacted directly - I will add that to it tomorrow.

And it would only be a nice person who was responding to this at about 2am, wouldn't it?

They'll have my email from the crash logs I have sent anyway. You must have trouble sleeping if this is what you do at this hour in the morning. Thanks for the help, Steve.

Well, since it's crashed, you need to do what it says here: Audition Crashed. Now what? Without that, you'll get no help at all, because nobody will have the faintest idea what's caused this.
