Audition export is a horrible electronic white noise when I choose WAV

I have a music track of around three minutes. Upon export the file is just a very short electronic sound of a second or two long.

How do I fix this?

I have no audio hardware issues as far as I am aware and nothing has changed, I have not altered the usual export settings. MP3 works fine btw

Oh another thing, I'm still on an old version of Audition. Is it safe to try updating to see if it fixes it without making my current project incompatible or something?

    What settings have got for your .wav file exporting? Is this from the Multitrack view? Does the samehappen if you mixdown to a new file rather than exporting?
