So I recorded an interview recently and when I went to go edit and post-production the interview, I got this message and the interview only open partially

I saved the file with a name and as an MP3 file.

Any suggestions to prevent this from happening again??

If you are going to record something for subsequent editing, don't ever store it as an MP3! Reason? Every time you save and reopen it, the quality will drop because this is a compressed format that effectively throws data away. So initially save as a wav file (the format it's recorded in), do the edits on that and only save the final distribution copy as an MP3. The other thing is that ideally you should record in Multitrack view, because in this view files are saved direct to disk, rather than as temp files, which is what happens in Waveform view. And if you are going to play really safe, then make a copy of the original when you've recorded it, and use that to edit from - that way you'll always have it to go back to.
