Hi, I'm fairly new to using Audition so bear with me. So I've been cutting out the commercials from some mp3 files (with Audition 2024) and everything was going fine, but then I get one in which the waveform isn't showing the full length of the mp3. It only goes up to 15 mins and stops. The file length is 3.5 hours. When I open the file in in my Windows media players, they will play the full 3.5 hours just fine. Does anyone know how I can fix this so that Audition shows me the full length of the mp3? Thanks in advance.
Hi, @janebergy
When you say "It only goes up to 15 mins and stops", do you mean the actual playback stops at 15 minutes, or you can only see 15 minutes of the audio?
If it's the latter, you might just need to zoom your view out. Select View > Zoom > Zoom Out Full (All Axes).
If it's the former, I've seen that happen before for various causes.

only record 30 minutes slots...
so for 2 hrs... 4 , 30 minutes slots
do same here, cut out commercials...coast to coast...
might add leadin start of mp3, add leadins between commercials,
version 25.3.0.71
good luck ....

It's also entirely possible that your computer just doesn't have the system resources to allow Audition to edit the file. Windows Media Player can buffer the playback, loading only parts of a large file at a time, but Audition, as an editor (a Digital Audio Workstation) needs to load the entire file into memory in order to show it and allow you to work on it. It might be that you don't have enough RAM, free harddrive space, or processing power available to Audition. Have a look at Audition's system requirements and let us know how your computer's hardware compares.

Hey, thanks for the info. I'll try it out. Yeah, Audition is saying the mp3 is corrupt and it will say "14:35 (partial)." Just weird that my other media players will play the whole thing and don't consider it to be corrupt. Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to provide your very useful info. I'll look into it!
