Audition problem sound like an unwanted chorus or flanger

I recorded my podcast yesterday by phone using all the exact same settings I use on every podcast. After finishing the call, I played back the interview, and both of our voices (recorded in stereo) sound like we're in a tunnel with tremendous distortion that sounds something like a cross between a chorus/flanger effect. I never use any effects when I'm recording interviews. When I did an analysis of the average overall amplitude, it comes out to about a -3. Putting a limiter on it has no effect on reducing the distortion. Any ideas on what the cause might be (and can it be fixed)?

Equipment: Allen & Heath mixer, JK Audio Broadcast Host, Dell desktop Windows 10

Something very odd has happened there. Unfortunately I suspect that there is nothing that I know off that can remove that type of distortion. What could have caused it on your setup is anyone's guess I'm afraid if it worked OK previously. Audition will only record what it gets sent by the audio interface drivers in the Waveform view, there is nothing that can beaded as effects from within Audition whilst recording. So something must have happened to your Windows audio drivers/settings to cause a rubbish digital audio stream to get sent to Audition.

Can you post a sample somewhere for us to listen to? A bit difficult to diagnose from your description alone. How did you record it in Audition, in Waveform or Multitrack view? So are your voice and the interviewee on different channels of the stereo file?

I made a short 5-minute clip taken from the one-hour show. Can I send it to you as an email attachment or is there some other way I can post it? It's recorded in the most recent version of Audition CC. I recorded it in Waveform. My voice and the interviewee are on different channels of the the stereo file and the distortion is equally distributed to both channels. Thanks//Dick Scoppettone or email dick@littlebiz.us.

It is best to post it to an online storage facility like Dropbox or Google Drive. Unfortunately Adobe doesn't provide any way to post audio files on their audio forum.
