Audition replay stops and goes

I downloaded Audition 25.0 a couple of days ago. It was fine and then a day later, my reply will not work. The playhead stops and goes. And most of the time, I cannot record any sounds. The same happens on Adobe Character Animator. Other non-Adobe applications, my microphone and headphons work just fine. I have tried everyting I can in terms of messing with the Adobe settings, and no luck. Occasionally, it will work fine, but a minute later the same issue happens. It is almost like the programs are bufferings. I have seen something like this in Adobe Effects but only when it is heavy with video etc, but even then eventually it all goes away. Right now my Audition is useless. Please help.

Unfortunately there are far too many possibilities here to go through them all. Hot favorites are things like Antivirus software scans, Wifi polling and out-of-date video drivers, but there are loads more. Yes, it could be a buffering issue. The thing to do about that is something we recommend anyway, and that's to create a new folder for your temporary drive (you can set this up in Edit>Preferences>Media and Disk Cache (the top entry). Ideally it should be on a drive that the OS can't see - like an external SSD.

But there are loads of other possibilities. It's worth checking out how to optimise your computer for audio anyway - a google search will reveal quite a lot of suggestions. But because we don't even know if this is a Mac or a PC you are talking about, we can't really go any further than this.

Thanks, Steve. I will try to troubleshoot it one of the ways you suggest. I am using Windows. So far, I have noticed that changing the audio input and output setting somehow makes a difference. I also noticed that my Adobe Character Animator is also affected by the same issue as Adobe Audition. I am also suspecting my wireless mouse somehow causing a problem.
