Audition Still won't Record.

So I am running Audition from creative cloud on my Windows Laptop. I have Audition CC 2017 latest update, Using a Neewer mic powered with the Scarlett Focusrite Solo 2nd gen. I've been getting the "MME internal error" message when i set the Focusrite as the Audio input device. And I've clicked the record button a thousand times and it WILL NOT record. I've been attempting it in "Wavelength" but i haven't tried  "Multitrack" yet, it confuses me. Someone pretty please help me.

      Since Focusrite audio interfaces are intended for professional recording they are provided with ASIO drivers by the manufacturer which is what you should be using. MME drivers are supplied by Microsoft for basic built in soundcards and, as such, can allow Windows to mess with the audio data as it passes through.

      So you should be selecting ASIO as the Device Class and then selecting the Focusrite as Device in Audition's Audio Hardware preferences. Steer well clear of MME.

      Sweet, it's recording now! But i can't hear the playback? Do i need to switch anything else in the software itself? Or do i need to disconnect my microphone from my computer? Note: My laptop's speakers are set as the default playback speakers.

      EDIT: Oh god, i just a test recording and my voice sounds so muffled and robotic, it's disgusting to listen to. Even though the mic is right by my face.

      The Focusrite audio interface should be selected for playback as well with your monitoring done either through headphones or speakers plugged into the Scarlett. You can check to see how the mic is sounding by listening on your headphones plugged into Scarlett with Direct Monitor switch turned on.

      What model is your Newer mic and how is it connected to the Scarlett interface?
