Audition will not find any VST plugins, even when scanning custom folders.

Hi Everyone,

Audition CC 2017 is having trouble finding my VST plugins that I have installed, absolutely nothing is found when I have the Audio Plugin Manager scan a VST folder. I have made absolutely sure that the VST plugins are x64, and have tried installing them through the original Audition Plug-ins folder, as well as a custom VSTplugins folder I made in my c: drive. Strangely, the only VST's that are working are those that I've installed into Guitar Rig 5's VST folder - Audition scans Guitar Rig 5 itself as a plug in, as well as the 3 VST plugins within the GR5 Plugin folder. However these are the only plugins that are being scanned. I tried adding more plugins to the GR5 folder to see if they show up, but nothing will. I've made path directories through the Audio plugin manager to every file location on my PC where VST's could be, ensured I've only downloaded 64 bit Plugins, and still nothing is appearing for use. What else is there to try??

Any help would be appreciated,

Are these VSTs or VSTi's? Audition will only show, and can only use, VSTs.

I have the exact same problem and can't seem to find much help online in regards to audition on windows

VST 101

In order for Audition to find VSTs they have to be in a folder that you specify, and not VSTi's, which it will not recognise. And, they have to be 64-bit VSTs, or they won't register at all when you run the scan. Assuming that these are legitimately written VSTs (Audition has had some difficulty in the past with ones where 'shortcuts' have been taken in the coding), then they'll be found. There really isn't anything else significant to say about this.

I'm on a Mac ( 2015 PowerBook ) and was having the same problem. I also couldn't find anything helpful online, so even though this thread is a couple years old, here's what I found:

After installing the VSTs (or AU etc) in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins Audition didn't show any of the installed plug-ins. I tried restarting the software and rebooting my machine to no avail. I tried checking the Auditions "Preferences" to see if I needed to define a VST location. All to no avail.

Then I noticed an item in the "Effects" dropdown that looked promising, so I opened the "Audio Plug-In Manager..."

Clicking that opens a panel that shows your VST locations and your currently installed VSTs:

When I first opened this window it showed the right Plug-In folders in the top section, but the bottom section listing available plug-ins was empty. Clicking the "Scan for Plug-Ins" button did the trick.
