Question

Berhinger UM2 ASIO not recording

Hello all,

I'm brand new here, so thank you for the support.

I have an MXL 770 running through a Berhinger UM2 to my Windows 10 PC. I think part of the problem is that  I generally run all my audio through my Schiit DAC and headphone amp to monitors - playback seems to be an issue. However, there was one instance where there appeared to be a recording, but on playback, there was only static, rhythmic static at best. I've included some screenshots.

Again, thanks for any help!

A couple of things: Firstly, you aren't running Behringer's ASIO driver - you are running ASIO4ALL which is a completely different kettle of fish. If you've installed the Behringer 64-bit driver package, you should have, as well as the ASIO4ALL driver, the actual Behringer one, and that's the one you should be using; it should be in the same list as ASIO4ALL - just select that instead.

Secondly, there's one slight snag to ASIO if you want to use more than one physical sound device, and that is basically that you can't do it. The ASIO spec gives you much reduced latency, but it does this by punching a hole clean through your operating system, and only one device at a time can do this. But you should get on fine using the Behringer for playback as well - it's a perfectly capable device.

So initially, try to get the proper ASIO driver working, and if you have any more difficulty, report back.

There's a video about the UM2 drivers and their installation here. It's not specifically about Audition, but the setup for ASIO is the same.
