Breaking down a long multitrack recording into smaller segments

I have a single multitrack recording that contains multiple songs. I do not want to keep the entire file as whole as I want to break up each song. What is the best way to do this? At this point, I am copying and pasting each segment to a new session and when I go to save it, it wants to save all the tracks along with it. I get that they are the reference files but I am going to go through a ton of storage space.

So i guess the real question is: what would be a good work flow to accomplish something like this?

Thanks for any advice/insight.
