Hello, I have been struggling with a problem for a week but I can't solve it. I bought an Audio Technica at 2035 microphone and an ESI U22 XT sound card, but when recording there is usually a click every 20 or 30 seconds in my recording. I tried many ways, I increased and decreased the buffer size, although the clicks are relatively less in the small buffer size, but it still exists and does not disappear. I tried different audio recording software but the problem still persists, I even changed my laptop windows but the problem still persists.
We tested the microphone and sound card in the store where I bought it and this time there were no clicks and the sound was clean and clear, I am really surprised. The only way left for me is to try the record process with a new xlr cable and if it still doesn't solve the problem, I really don't know what to do. Do you have a solution for this problem? I'm really going crazy, I don't know what to do. please help me thank you very much.

This isn't necessarily the solution, but it's something you should look at - and that is where Audition is getting its sync source from (you will find this in Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware), in the line marked Clock - there should be a reference to your sound device somewhere in the options. The other thing to try is altering the Device Class you are using. The ESI U22 XT ships with an ASIO driver, and it's definitely worth switching to that as far as Audition is concerned, as its audio engine is ASIO-based anyway.

Thanks Steve, I've tried all of these but no results. That's right, I've set the class drive to asio, no difference.

Can you get a reasonable sized screengrab of the click? I know this might sound a bit crazy, but there are a few things we can tell from it, believe it or  not.

But if you've tried all of the above with no result, then there's a possibility of this being a mains-borne interference spike from an appliance either switching on or off to consider...
