CPU Error and Audio Healing

Hello,

I recently discovered that my computer is overworked during recording. My podcast grew faster than I expected and I believe the CPU of my computer cannot keep up. I recently recorded an episode with three XLR microphones into an audio interface/mixer (Focusrite i818) and into audition. The audio seems to be choppy with speeds slowing up and slowing down. 

This happens both in the multitrack view and in the single isolated waveform. Does anyone know if I can somehow fix the audio? I have attached a sample of what is happening.

I don't think it's an overworked CPU at all - that would be pretty hard to do with just three mono sources! This sounds like having a record buffer that's too small.

Try going to Edit>Preferences>Hardware and if you are using an MME driver, increase the latency value. If you are using ASIO, you need to increase the I/O buffer size - this achieves the same thing.

Hi Steve, 

My AA CC uses ASIO USB when I am recording and I typically use MME to playback during editing. Right now I increased the latency on the MME but the audio still has damage on playback. 

Is there a way to fix the damaged recording tracks I am working on? Or will the latency/ I/O buffer size only fix future sessions?

This will only work in the future, not the past, I'm afraid. It's two different buffers (playback and recording) but it's only playback errors that can be corrected by re-sizing. Your error was clearly on the recording side - easy to tell because of the holes in the track.
