I'm ingesting a tape recorded with DBX noise reduction, which is (reportedly) a 2:1 compression. I'm trying to expand it in Audition with little success. Does anyone have any "cook book" settings to use to expand DBX in Audition, short of running the signal through a DBX box during capture?

Most people reckon that running it through the hardware is the way to go - it's not easy to simulate in software, because it uses some strange time constant tricks which materially alter the results. Even though we know that there's 2:1 compression going on, sneaky things were done to minimise pumping, etc. I'm only aware of a single software attempt to emulate this and that's Satin - at a similar cost to picking up a DBX decoder.
