Why do I get detected dropped samples while busy recording? and how do I fix this, please?

I'm having major problems with "detected dropped samples" as well, when I'm editing (thankfully it doesn't seem to happen when I record). I can't make much sense of the advice offered on various discussion threads around this topic so am looking for a fix. I'm using Audition on a relatively new Surface Pro 7, 8 GB RAM, with a ATR-2100 USB mic w/ headphones running though the mic. I've tried to shut down all other apps, shutdown/restart, checked all my drivers, and more - nothing has helped. Really need to figure this out. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Insufficient information here really, I'm afraid. Another thing you could try is increasing the buffer size/latency value slightly. Why? Because this implies that the stream of digits from your sound device has gaps in it where there shouldn't be. Same thing could happen with playback, where it would be audibly noticeable. But there are plenty of other reasons why this might happen too - without a lot more information, we couldn't go any further than the above suggestion.

Hello Steve, sorry, here is some more info.

I'm using a Focusrite scarlett usb soundcard to record, and every time when I record something it gives me this error, and when I save the files, I hear lots of click sounds. Both my sample rates on the soundcard and PC are set to 44100, 16 bit but still get the dropped sample rate message

Hi All

I recently loaded Audition on too a new Dell XPS desktop computer. I need to record a 2 hour daily show but every 30 min approx I get a small glitch/drop and the message 'Detected Dropped Samples'. I have changed latency, checked sample rates and had long sessions with Adobe techs. Nothing fixes it. Any help appreciated.

I suspect it is because there is a mismatch between the sample rate of your audio interface and your Audition session settings which mneans that Audition has to convert the sample rate on the fly
