Hi, I'm using Audition 1.5. In edit view I'm trying to hit play but a window comes up that says a device ID has been used that is out of range for your system. An error was generated by your sound card. It may not be properly configured - reinstall your sound card driver, check the sound card documentation and, if necessary, contact the sound card manufacturer to help you resolve this hardware error.

I already reinstalled the driver, any ideas?

windows 7 right ? it was very easy .. double click on your speaker icon, choose recording device and choose the device you want.

No that won't be it - because that would potentially select a recording device, and the OP was complaining about a playback issue. If you get a transport failure, it's because Audition and the sound device aren't getting on - nothing to do with speaker icons or anything like that. So whatever experience you had, I'm afraid you misinterpreted it.

I have windows 10 (This does work)

Right click on sound icon on task bar right hand side bottom.

Click on SOUND

On Recording make Stereo the default and (apply)

On Cool Edit Pro 2.1 Icon on the desk top

Right Click   Properties

Compatibility

go down to and tick run this program as an administrator (apply).

This will work but you will have to open via administrator every time

Thanks, that worked. I didn't have to run CEP as an administrator though, it worked right after setting it on Recording to Stereo (called stereo-mix).

I should point out that anybody (or anybot) who seriously thinks that they are going to get help about Audition 1.5 from Adobe Support  directly is deluding themselves. This is not even software they wrote - all they did to CEP was update the security system. It's Syntrillium code, and it was never intended to work with modern OS's. If it does, that's great - but you really have to expect failures this far out.

 

And the other thing is - this query appears to be solved. So what's the reply above doing here at all?
