Effects loaded into rack have no effect on track

SW: Audition CC 2017 (installed from Creative Cloud Manager about 11:00 AM MST (-0700) on 11/22/2016), macOS Sierra 10.12.1

HW: Mac Book Air (mid-2013), 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD

I have an audio file I recorded (mono, 24-bit) from a Røde NT-1A through a Focusrite Scarlett Solo directly into Audition.

I load a preset of effects into the Effects rack, and listen to the audio—nothing changes.

I click "Apply" and watch as Audition applies the effects in the rack—nothing changes.

Racked effects have their "power switch" turned on, and the "total power" switch for all effects is turned on. Each effect's channel map is 1->1.

If I apply the effects one at a time, they work like they are supposed to.

Why on earth would the rack exist, if it doesn't do anything?

And thanks for the sanity check. I somehow missed that setting!!!

Makes a lot of difference, that!

What is the 'mix' control at the bottom of the rack set to?
