It works fine here on a PC, and I daresay that if there was a generic problem with this we would have heard about it by now. It may be that your Preferences folder has got corrupted - you can clear this and get back to the default settings by starting Audition with the Shift key held down, but you will lose any personal preferences and presets that you've made. Other than that, you could try deleting the appropriate file on its own but then you'd have to locate the folder. I'd give you the path but you haven't said whether this is on a Mac or a PC...
