So, I am working on music and i record in adobe audition and am currently having someone mix vocals for me. When i record, i record in Mono, when i try to select stereo when recording it and i turn on the mirroring to hear myself it is only coming out of the left side, but when i select mono it hear myself out of left and right sides,  but somehow I guess when I am exporting these stems without effects or tuning just as raw vocals, they're exporting to my computer for me to send as a Stereo format. Since i recorded in Mono and when the person is mixing my vocals hes using plug ins that only work with Stereo format so its making the sound of the effects really odd. My question is, when exporting like normal track by track of raw vocals, how can I make it export in Mono also? If this is a confusing question I apologize, I'm teaching myself how to use Adobe Audition so I'm like 3 weeks in to using the program. Any help will suffice!!

Thanks!

A couple of things here that may help.

To answer your question about exporting to mono. This is an option you can select in all save and export dialogue boxes inside Adobe Audition. Look for sample type the select the Change button and change the channels to Mono.

Another thing worth to mention is the monitoring in stereo giving one sided audio. I don't know what audio interface you're using but some allow direct monitor in mono (channel 1 only) or stereo (channels 1 and 2). If you have a mic pluged into channel 1 monitoring in stereo will give output on the left channel only.

Oh also regarding the last part, I use a UBS Mic as of now and in audition in the input i choose Stereo it says something like "left right" something and same with the Mono option, only when I choose stereo it only plays from the left side adn when i choose mono it plays from both headphones.

Hi Mike

I'm having the same issue but the channels option is greyed out for me, hence I cannot export in Mono...
