Files altered after uninstalling Audition

I uninstalled Audition to free hard drive space, since I was using it for a podcast we are no longer producing. After uninstalling, I noticed all the files and folder structure within my podcast folder has changed... .Sesx files are gone, and there lots of folders with names ending in "_data" that each contain many .au files that don't seem to contain anything useful. (Screenshot of Finder window containing these attached.)

I reinstalled Audition but I'm not sure what other steps I can take to restore the sessions... and if I CAN get them back, is there a way to uninstall Audition and keep those files intact?

Audition is pretty good when it uninstalls, and doesn't take out anything that it didn't install in the first place (and indeed leaves a few hidden things to get around trial limits, etc). So I'd be rather surprised if the process of uninstalling it caused that - it's not interested in program material at all, unless perhaps it was in a folder from which it was correctly uninstalling something else, if you see what I mean.

But from your screen-grab it looks as though these files are in a Dropbox location, and the ones listed are .au files, which are Audacity files????

Yes, these are stored in Dropbox. I was able to recover some missing .sesx files from Dropbox, but I'm not sure if they'll be useful without all the files associated with them.

I also remembered I deleted an "Audition Temp" folder located in a different directory in the Dropbox. Could that be what caused this?

Yes, some interviews for the podcast were recorded with Audacity so that makes sense. I just wish I knew where the Audition files went.

I've determined that this most likely happened a while back when our Dropbox went crazy and we lost some files and had to restore from previously deleted versions, which disorganized everything. Apparently it also happened to the podcast folder and no one noticed since we haven't been making new episodes for a while now. 🤦🏻‍:female_sign:I dug around and restored just enough files to make do in case we ever do revive our podcast.

Thanks!
