Question

Fixing breathy pronunciations (plosives?)

Hi all,

I am editing an audio track and the speaker is very breathy in his pronunciation.

They are not plosives per se (and they definitely don't look like plosives on the Spectral Display), but they do stand out and sound similar to plosives.

The syllables include words starting with "h" (heh-ven instead of heaven) or "ah" (ah-tention instead of attention).

I've been messing around in Spectral Display with the Healing Tool and trying to playing around with the Multiband Compressor, but nothing seems to be working.

I've tried simply deleting the beginning of the words, but then they sound clipped. And when I "heal" the lower frequencies, it takes out the low frequencies of the speaker's voice, leaving the words sounding hollow.

Any tips? Thanks.

Not really able to offer any help without hearing the effect that you are talking about. Is it possible to post a .wav clip of a bit of your audio containing the problem for us to analyse? You will have to use something like Dropbox, Google Drive or other similar with a link for us to download and take a look at.
