I found something about this for mac, but not Windows 11.
Trying to record guitar with my focusrite. It works on every other audio recording program I've tried, even the stuff where you record in your web browser. I try and try, but all Audition picks up on my guitar are these faint spit noises that you might also get when you unplug the amp. I tried Audacity, and it works just fine on there. Adobe? Nada.
I have done the following;
-reinstall drivers (twice)
-restart computer (thrice)
-use MME instead of ASIO, and vice versa. No difference
-recorded with mono, stereo, mix, anything. No difference
-checked audition for updates, which there are none
Sincerely, what, why, and how do I make this thing work???
I have sucessfully recorded with adobe audition and my focusrite last week. The only thing I have done since then was put some effects on a wav file I downloaded for a friend, to help her balance her audio for a project.
What do I do?
Audition always does as it's told. When you start a Waveform view recording you get some choices:
If you pick stereo, and you've only got a guitar plugged into input 1 (or 2), then yes, all you will get is a recording on either the left or the right.
In Multitrack it's different. You have to decide whether it's a stereo or mono track you are recording into, and then make sure that the input is set appropriately:
And again, if you set it so that there's only a single input to a stereo track,

In the list of things you've done, I haven't seen any reference to an input check. If you try recording in Waveform view, does the same thing happen? (I'd use the ASIO driver for the moment) If you are using the input set to 'default', have you checked to see what the default setting actually is? (Edit>Preferences>Audio Channel Mapping.)

Oh, yeah seems to work fine in waveview, but it's all only in my right ear
And here's what the Audio Channel Mapping window looks like:

Well, if it works fine in Waveform view, that only leaves the track settings in Multitrack. Can you show us how you've got the track set up as far as the input to it is concerned?

Waveform doesn't work fine though, it only records in my right ear, can't seem to find how to set it to mono. Unless it's meant to do that?
Here's my Multitrack settings though. I'm not sure which window you need specifically so here's all of these

And again, if you set it so that there's only a single input to a stereo track, that's what you get; just one channel, and this is what you need to check carefully, as it sounds as though you've been recording the preamp noise from the 'other' input rather than the guitar.

sorry for replying late,
for waveform, thank you for explaining that to me 🙂
as for multitrack, for some reason the more I mess with input and output the more adobe gives me pop ups for a bug occuring and adobe needing to shut down. I assume there's nothing you can do about that though (yes my version is up to date), just adobe being finnicky.
I put it on Mono 2 for input and that seems to have fixed it! thank you so much 🙂
