Question

Graphic Equaliser also a disaster

In addition to the Parametric Equaliser not working correctly, there's a serious problem with the Graphic Equaliser (I'm using the 20 band version).

If I turn up the 500Hz control, it actually increases the frequencies at around 5,000Hz.

If I turn up the 250Hz control, it actually increases the frequencies at around 2,500Hz.

Turning up bands from 710Hz and above do nothing but crash the program.

Sorry guys, but the current version of this software is not usable in a professional environment.

I'm using Audition version 13.0.1.35. But not for long.

Phil

If this helps, here are some steps that seem to cause the crash repeatedly:
------------------------------
Open Adobe Audition 2020 (13.0.1.35)
Open a WAV file (44kHz stereo 16 bit) and start playing the file
Choose the Default preset on the Graphic Eq (20 bands)
Move the 2k slider to maximum (no change is audible)
Bring the 2.8k slider to maximum (no change is audible)
If it hasn't crashed, bring the 4k slider to maximum (no change is audible)
Crash
------------------------------
It also happens at other times, but these steps are repeatable.
All the best
Phil

Tried your steps - didn't crash at all, I'm afraid.

Okay, would you please have a look at this video?

The Graphic Eq problem showed up when I installed the latest version of Audition on my desktop PC.

In order to eliminate any issues on that computer, I've now installed it on my laptop but WITHOUT IMPORTING MY OLD PREFERENCES.

I have exactly the same problem now on two different installations.

Here's the link to the video which shows the problem:

It's a bit weird. I tried creating a couple of minutes of white noise and played with the 20-band graphic EQ, and everything worked fine with the sound, and real-time requency analysis to look at how things were being affected. And then something strange happened (I'm not sure what yet) and the bands started messing about. But this wasn't straightforward doubling of frequencies - the 710 slider did something really wide at 8kHz. But I haven't got it to crash - yet.

I will report this, but first I want to find out what triggers it if I can. When it comes to bug reports, that's rather important...

[update: I've made it crash, and that's generated stuff that gets sent anyway.]

Did you try calling up the default settings, then bringing up the faders
from 1k upwards?
This crashes it for me.
