I saw an older post where someone asked this question but I didnt quite understand how to do this . There used to be a feature when before inserting audio files into your session in adobe , you can preview the file before doing so. Is this still available on the newer versions of adobe and if so... HOW if you could , can you explain to me as if I was a 3 year old. Thank you. I really miss this feature and would love to use it again.

Thank you so much!

Well, most three-year olds like pictures!

If you want it in words, it's at the bottom of the Files menu - the button on the right. It's never gone away, and has always been there. You don't have to turn it on or anything - just make sure that the files menu is visible (Window>Files) and it's at the bottom.

Ahh... The one difference between the much older versions and the present one is that you can't preview a file without it being available in the Files panel. If I recall correctly, this altered when the entire audio engine was rewritten to be ASIO-based. To preview audio the way it used to do (which used the Windows audio player) would involve creating a complete stand-alone ASIO player. Unfortunately you can't use both systems at the same time, so it was decided that regrettably, the previous Previewing system had to go.

Once a file's opened and in the Files panel, Audition's normal replay facilities are available - but not if it isn't, I'm afraid.

Thank you. I appreciate that explanation. 🙂
