Have made several attempts to install Audition 3.0 from software purchased several years ago. Unable to get through to technical support. After further Googling I read that my disks are useless. Followed the instructions (signed in with Adobe ID, downloaded new software files from Adobe website, installed on laptop, entered serial number provided on website) then received message saying no subscription is linked to this Adobe ID. I don't have any subscriptions, only a one-time purchase! What can I do to get Audition working? I have spoken to customer services eventually who were unable to help and directed me here.
Yes they can provided that they have a log in with an Adobe account. However that is only for the download. Installation and running of AA3 doesn't require any online activation. That was the whole point of Adobe providing these links to CS2 software since they discontinued the activation server for all the old software. Are you sure that this isn't a Windows message? try running AA3 as an administrator by right clicking on the desktop shortcut and select Run as Administrator.

What software files did you download from Adobe? The AA 3 ones should be from the CS2 download pages. With the correct software and serial number provided there should be no need for a subscription. AA3 should just load and work after correct installation.

Yes, I downloaded the files from the CS2 download pages. I am thinking that the issue is related to the Adobe ID. I signed in with Adobe ID 'A' to download the files and entered this ID again when requested after installation. I think it was at this point I was told no subscription was linked to that ID.
On speaking to customer services I discovered our company has another Adobe ID ('B') which is the one linked to the Audition software. I am thinking that I should perhaps start from scratch ie sign in with Adobe ID B to re-download the files and enter the same ID again after installation so that everything matches.
Do you think this is a good idea? Do you know any shortcuts? It took 4 hours to download one of the 3 AA files last time - I could do without doing it again!

You only need the .exe one to install AA3. It's only 353MB. The other two are just some extra media that was originally supplied with AA3 but isn't needed to use it. however I wouldn't have thought that you need to download it again. As far as I am aware once you have the installation file and use the supplied serial number your Adobe ID shouldn't matter and no subscriptions are required. Unlike later versions of Audition AA3 doesn't phone home every now and then to check if it is valid.

I have downloaded it, used the correct serial number, it is installed but is then telling me I don't have permission to use it. What can I do?

When you say 'supplied serial number' I am assuming you mean the one from the same page I downloaded the files from?

Yes. The one ending -8029. Is it an Audition message or a Windows one that is saying that you can't use it? When does this message appear, when you try to install Audition or when you open it? Can you show us an image of the error message that appears when you try to run AA3? And which version/build number of Windows?

Two messages (see attached), the longer one on trying to open Audition and then another one on closing the dialog box. Running Windows 10.

Puzzled as to how it could work without a valid Adobe ID. Surely anyone could go and download the software!

Also it might be worth trying to re-install AA3 as administrator.
