Hi guys. Simple question I hope: Have made a lot of presets in the Effects Rack, but now I need to change their names. Guess it´s just me being blind, but I really cannot find any place to click into the names to edit them....?

The only way to do this is to open your existing preset, and resave it with a different name. Then open the original one again, and delete it. Yes it's a bit weird, but it's been this way for a long time...

Really? How weird. Not exactly a time-and-click-saving procedure. And what happens to the clips I had assigned the original preset to? Do you need to go through all of them and assign them to the "new" preset? (I´m in the multitrack, by the way. Big project, hundreds of clips...)

I haven't investigated what happens with re-named presets, but I'd guess that yes, you'd have to replace the existing ones with the replaced one, as the keyname in the .xml file is what's looked for. This method of preset renaming is not exactly unknown - I know of other software that takes a similar approach. Also I should point out that if you just open the preset and hit 'delete', all the effects in it remain, and all you need to do is save it again to a new name.

Yes, you can rename any preset the hard way - go to EffectPresets.xml in the Audition Preferences folder and use an .xml editor - but you'll still have the same problem with replacing instances where you've used it.

Ok. At least I have learned to think hard and be really sure before naming presets in future projects 😉

Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge again, Steve!
