Question

Is CD-R overburn possible?

Dear All,

I convert an old 90min audio cassette tape into a .wav file.

Now I am trying to burn this .wav file into an 90min (800MB) disc.

The .wav file is about 89mins total with CD track markers

When trying to burn the CD I receive a message telling me that I’m not allowed to burn a disc longer than 78 minutes.

I already have 90min discs (800MB) and also my CD-R drive supports over burning.

Is there any way or option to bypass this message and over burn the CD?

I am using the Adobe Audition CC 2017

Thanks in advanced!

Sorry, no.  The CD burner in Audition sticks tightly to the red book standard and won't give you the extra time.

I thought it was possible somehow to override the pop up and force Audition to burn longer CDs, but without a guarantee that it would be successful.

My memory (quite possibly faulty) was that there was a cheat to get past the 78 minute rule and up to the full 80--but not overburn up to 90 minutes.

If somebody does have a way, it would be useful if they posted!
